Over 35 Soccer Rules Reminder

The Over 35 Soccer has some unique rules to help improve our players safety as our old bones get brittle. We are working with the referees to help explain and enforce these rules over the next few weeks. One of these is the Goalkeeper rule and it is outlined below.
GOALKEEPERS
Over the past few weeks there have been incidents where goalkeepers have sustained injuries from over-enthusiastic challenges in the penalty area.
To protect goalkeepers please remember Rule 6.6 advising strikers to pull out of 50/50 challenges on the keepers.
6.6 To protect goalkeepers, any 50/50 challenge by an attacker on a goalkeeper is deemed to be a foul and a direct free kick awarded to the goalkeepers team.
For safety and in keeping within the spirit of the game players should be encouraged to pull out of any challenge with a goalkeeper which could result in injury
The full Over 35s Rules can be seen at https://soccer-over35.com/about/rules/ or on the poster in the Registrars’ shed at the Club.
