About

Gold Coast Over 35
Soccer Association

Our Objective

The object of Gold Coast Over 35 Soccer Association Inc is primarily to provide a social organisation in which players compete on a purely social basis with the criteria to be over the age of 35 years.

We emphasise that our main aim is to foster participation and enjoyment of the game and with this in mind we have several divisions split into over 35 and over 45 leagues. The standard varies from very high in over 35 Division 1 with some ex socceroos playing from time to time through to VERY social in our over 45 Division 3 (and everywhere in between).

We play all the year around with the preseason starting in the beginning of January, the first season in February till June and a second season commences in July and continues into December.

We play on each Monday and Wednesday and the over 45's on Thursday nights, with games commencing at 6.30 p.m. – 7.35p.m. – and 8.40 p.m.

Club History

Where we were and where we’re at:

1985 (approx) 'Dad's Army' was formed for players over 35 years of age with the games being played at Southport Soccer Club after the Federation Soccer season.

6 Teams participated in this competition from Kingscliff, Burleigh Heads, Southport, Surfers Paradise, Musgrave and a team calling themselves The Cabinet Makers.

In 1989 following the soccer season, the over 35 soccer recommenced, this time at Mudgeeraba with 6 teams and only weeks later extended to 8 teams.

1990 saw the competition extended to play the full year.

On the 14th February 1990 the 'Golden Oldies Soccer Association' started at Musgrave Park and Palm Beach with 12 teams – Cowboys, Barbarians, Gunners, Jets, Mustangs, Burleigh Vets, Sharks, Wallabies, Wallies, Warriors [now Chiefs], Old Wolves (Kingscliff), and Yuppies.

In May 1990 the venue for the games was changed to the Nerang Velodrome and on the 6th August 1990, because of numbers, the competition was divided into two divisions.

In 1994 the name was changed to the 'Gold Coast Supa Oldie Soccer Association'.

In July 1995 the club relocated to Hunt Park at Musgrave Hill. Musgrave Soccer Club provided two fields to be used by the Over 35's. This club was the only club to come to our rescue with the donation of these two fields.

In 1999 three divisions were formed with 18 teams and a name change to the 'Gold Coast Over 35 Soccer Association.' The increase of divisions got players returning and in 2000 the field was increased to 24 teams, 28 teams in 2001 and we had gone to four divisions in 2003 with 32 teams.

The club started an over 45 competition in August 2003 with 6 teams and the over 35 teams still fielding 33 teams.

In 2013 we now have six divisions with 24 teams in the over 35's and 18 teams in the over 45's.
